6 Tips on nailing your first trip to Cartagena, Colombia

Queens, hold on to your pearls, because I'm about to tell you how Colombia is That Girl!! I just got back from an incredible solo trip to Colombia. You won't believe the adventures I had and the experiences I gained while exploring this amazing country! If you're planning your first trip to Cartagena I gathered some useful tips for an unforgettable experience in Cartagena:

1. To get the most out of your trip, consider dividing your stay between the beach and the Old Town. I did it this way and you can bet your priority boarding passes that this is the ultimate way to enjoy the best of both worlds and experience the different vibes of the city.

2. Make sure to indulge in a food tour or cooking class! This is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the local culture and cuisine and learn about the unique ingredients and flavors of Colombian dishes and even try your hand at cooking some traditional meals.

I booked a class with Lunático Cooking Studio and this class owes me nothing. Queens you know I dont cook, but after this class, I truly felt as if I could have changed my name to Captain Sandy the Colombian Cooking Baddie!

3. Shopping is a must-do activity in Cartagena, with its vibrant markets and boutiques. You can find everything from handmade crafts to designer clothing, and it's a great way to support local businesses.

Girl you know I am a shopaholic so of course I would have found my way to get some cute nicknacks, dah!

4. Dining in Cartagena is a delightful experience, with a wide range of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for seafood, street food, or fine dining, you'll find something to suit your taste.

Here is a list of some of my favorite restaurants that I visited during my stay:

Let me tell you something the foodie in me was not going to allow me to walk past all the street food especially when it looks this good.

5. If you're looking for some lively and exciting experiences after the sun sets Cartagena, Gethsemani should be at the top of your list. In Cartagena, there are plenty of options to explore. The city boasts a vibrant nightlife scene with a variety of bars, clubs, and live music venues to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for a relaxing drink with friends, a dance party, or a cultural performance, Cartagena has something for everyone. So, get ready to explore the city's nightlife and make some unforgettable memories.  This was one of the cute rooftops where I danced the night away with perfect strangers!

6. Discover the hidden beauty of Colombia by taking a boat trip to the picturesque Rosario Islands from Cartagena. These islands, blessed with beaches and vibrant exotic coral reefs are a true Colombian gem just waiting to be explored. You can either indulge in sunbathing, snorkeling, scuba diving, or just relaxing by the beach. The Rosario Islands are an ideal getaway for those looking to escape the city's hustle and bustle - a perfect addition to your Cartagena itinerary.

I'll be honest the beaches aren't like the crystal clear Bahamian waters I am used to but anywhere where I can head to the ocean, sun bathe, and sip on a fruity cocktail baby, I'll take it!

Okay, Queens, I hope these small tips become helpful in planning a fantastic trip to Cartagena! Stay on the lookout for more blog posts I promise I'll be more consistent this time. So Mwah, until the next post!
